Don't know what to do, sick of battling over this?

Ok so my husband and I are having a BOY! in November. I'm thrilled, but this circumcision argument is making me crazy because I feel like I can't win. My husband is only a quarter Jewish. A quarter!! He isn't even practicing himself. But still his family is insisting we keep with Jewish tradition and circumcise our son. Now I don't want to be racist towards my own family and I don't want them to grudge against me forever, but I do NOT want to circ my baby boy! I want to end the cycle of circumcising from both of our families, starting with our son. Plain and simple I think the procedure is mean, that's my reasoning. I dont want my poor son to endure a bris where he is NOT medicated and they put a knife to him. I'm sorry. Ugh, not meaning to rant but what can I do? Sometimes I wish we were just having a girl :-/
